Currently in college studying computer science, maths and physics. In my spare time I do odd jobs and also some freelance work through UpWork.
My main interests are software and also the Internet of Things. Why is this? I love taking things apart and seeing how they work, mainly software now since taking apart hardware often isn't nice on my bank-account. Lately though C++ has been a massive interest of mine, this time though I won't rush learning a language and then have to re-learn it. Potentially I'd like to replicate my Scrabble Solver project but using C++ instead of Python.
Slight Python addict
I started learning Python in 2015 because of the BBC Microbit. I was asked to do a presentation on how to make programs, more specifically games. So I went ahead and learned the basis of Python to find out the Microbit used Micro Python, which is slightly different. Again it was a learning curve but I eventually made a copter-like game and it went down well and also the presentation went very smoothly.
SQL is great because of the argument of is it Se-quel or S-Q-L. I learnt SQL in a night through a Sololearn course, sure one night doesn't seem enough but it was really just to get a idea of what the heck happens in a SQL injection. It's also helped to refine my understanding of entity relationship tables and how weirdly useful they are.
C++ is my most recent headache, thankfully it's relatively similar to VB.net and java, both of which I have background knowledge on using. I wanted to learn C++ because many people have said it's the best compliment to Python, also the majority of pentesting tools are written in C++/Python so it's always nice having the ability to debug them if needed.
Having been a Windows user for most of my life, not including android, it was a VERY big commitment for me to go full linux on my laptop. I took the dive in 2016 and it's been an enjoyable experience. This doesn't mean I can no longer use Windows it just means when I go back to Windows it makes me laugh at how simple everything seems with no BASH console and also no SuperUser.
Ethical hacking has always been a career choice I've wanted to pursue but the sterotype of "Oh children always want to be astronauts or some extravagant job" has definitely been a bump in the road. Lately however I've looked past it and started to learn SQL, Python and C++. Also I had a freelance job to preform a security audit on a charity webpage (more about it in the projects section)
